The interaction between N-methyl 8-hydroxy quinoline methyl sulfate, a drug that absorbs erymathogenic near-ultraviolet radiation, and smectite was studied by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and adsorption and desorption techniques. From the adsorption studies, (1) the amount of the drug adsorbed by Na-smectite increased with the pH of the solution to pH 6.5 and then decreased as the pH was further increased; (2) the maximum amount adsorbed at pH 6.5 was 102 meq/100 g of clay; and (3) the maximum amount of drug adsorbed, according to the adsorption isotherms at pH 4, was close to the cation-exchange capacity of the smectite (80 meq/100 g). The XRD studies showed that the drug molecules were adsorbed in the interlayer space of smectite and that cation exchange was the chief mechanism responsible for these interactions. The results of the adsorption-desorption cycles of the drug by smectite showed that this clay is a good support for this compound. In addition, an alternative method was developed to obtain the intercalation compound to avoid the standard method of exchange by impregnation. The method consisted of grinding a mixture of the drug with the clay. The characteristics of the complex thus formed were similar to those of the complex formed by exchange at pH 4 to 7.
To gain insight into the pharmacological properties of the intercalation compound studied, its capacity for absorption of visible and near-ultraviolet light was investigated. The diffuse reflectance spectrum of the complex showed intense absorption bands, absent or weak in the spectra of the pure drug or the untreated clay, at 250, 290, and ~390 nm.

Sexuality and emotional life are rarely focus on attention in people suffering from severe long-term mental diseases like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
Methods53 patients and 47 matched controls were studied using a new questionnaire (SEXSAM Scale) measuring relevance of sexual and emotional relationships in patients’ daily life. A specific Psychotropic-Related Sexual Dysfunction Questionnaire (PRSexDQ-SALSEX Montejo 2001-2008), Sexual Activity Assessment Scale modified from Kinsey (Montejo 2006) and the HONOS Scale measuring bio-psychosocial functioning were also applied.
ResultsSexuality (physic and emotional) was scored as high valuable and the main motivation for sexual activity was looking for love and fondness in both groups. No differences were found in the value of more affective behaviours such as kissing, caressing, hugging or massaging. Global satisfaction in sexual and emotional life was significantly superior in control group and linked to the higher frequency of sexual relations. Many patients suffered for sexual dysfunction related to the treatment use and many of then were dissatisfied with their sexual life. Just a few numbers of patients had regular sexual intercourses. Patients describe an improvement in the self-perception of mood, appetite, sleep, anxiety level, humour sense and self-esteem when they have sexual relations. Predominant sexual activity for patients was masturbation. Prostitution use was higher in patient group. All these findings are negatively influencing personal satisfaction and quality of life.
ConclusionRelevance of sexual and emotional life in patients is as high as in normal population. These patients are more concerned about affection and companionship than about physical pleasure.

Introduction
In psychiatric clinical practice, we can face numerous organic diseases in the differential diagnosis between primary psychiatric disorders. As an example of this, we can see the autoimmune limbic encephalitis(LE), which in a significant percentage of cases begins with psychiatric symptoms. Currently, one of the theories of the origin of the LE is as a idiopathic autoimmune entity, leaving behind the idea of been generated only by a viral or paraneoplastic etiology.
ObjectiveTo achieve a better knowledge about this underdiagnosed entity, presenting a case of an anti-LGI1 limbic encephalitis.
CaseA 60-year-old Caucasian woman who starts with neuropsychiatric symptoms as: behavioral disorders, manic symptoms, memory impairment and attention deficit.
ResultsFinally, the diagnosis was confirmed when the patient had positive results in both serum and CSF samples for anti-LGI1 antibodies. Gastric neuroendocrino tumour type I was discovered. Neither paraneoplasic syndrome nor onconeuronal antibodies were shown. A thin hyperintense signal was identified in the left hippocampus using a brain MRI. Despite the patient had been treated with corticosteroids, immunosuppressants and immunoglobulins, she still showed positive antibodies in CSF samples with poor clinical results, especially psychiatric symptoms. The patient required one psychiatric hospitalization due to reference and persecutory delusions and manic symptoms.
ConclusionOur patient had an unsatisfactory evolution with little response to immune treatment. Given the possible underdiagnosis of this condition, the importance of a differential diagnosis and an early treatment, we consider that there is an important need for a greater knowledge and scientific divulgation of this clinical entity.

The effect of a Mg- and Al-containing layered double hydroxide (LDH), used as an additive or as a matrix, on the dissolution and solubility of two non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), namely, mefenamic and meclofenamic acids, is reported. The use of MgAl-LDH enhances the solubility of mefenamic acid at the three pH values tested, and the value is larger when the acid is intercalated as opposed to simply being mixed with the layered material. For pure mefenamic acid, the most unfavourable pH is 1.2, while for the physical mixture and the sample with the intercalated drug, the most unfavourable pH is 4.5, for which the minimum increase in the amount of dissolved acid is recorded. The (dissolution) release-rate for both drugs when they are intercalated between the layers is much slower than for the physical mixture or for the dissolution of the pure drug.

Tetragonal, perovskite type, powders and thin films of PbTiO3 have been synthesized by the sol-gel method, using trihydrate lead acetate and titanium tetraisopropoxide as starting alkoxides. The thermal treatment has been established from differential thermal and thermogravimetric analysis. An interpretation is presented for the various processes occurring during the gel to dense oxide conversion. The optimal process towards thin films includes annealing stages at 180, 400 and 650°C. Thin films were prepared by spinning on Si and Pt-covered Si. By SEM analysis the films appear cracked, porous, or homogeneous, with 0.5 to 1 um per solution coating. Current-voltage characteristics of Al/PT/Pt/Si capacitors exhibit a resistivity of 0.5 to 20·108Ωm, nondestructive breakdown in the range of 4 to over 20V, and relative dielectric permittivity of 100.
